ABOUT ELF

The Environmental Legacy Foundation (ELF) is a legal Trust created in 2009 to manage gifts and bequests from those concerned about the future of Sunshine Coast environment, especially to provide long term financial support for local environmental organisations. ELF is a registered charity, which enables tax-deductible gift status. ELF Ltd, as the trustee, is a not-for-profit limited liability company.

OUR MISSION

To provide support for programmes and activities that educate and advocate for our unique ecosystems, our wildlife and our forests.

To conserve our precious natural resources.

We do this by investing donations we receive into ethical investment funds in order to enable us to provide long term, ongoing donations to Sunshine Coast organisations and institutions committed to our mission.

Investment Strategy

The organisations we support are:

Sunshine Coast Environment Council

SCEC is a peak body conservation group, established in 1980 that represents more than 60 groups on the Sunshine Coast.

University of the Sunshine Coast Annual Student Bursary

2024 – Lauren Campbell is completing her thesis on: Shark control programs and the post- release mortality and behaviour after capture on drumlines.

2023 – Alexander Jarrett has completed his thesis: Spatial features that influence fish abundance and distribution along the Sunshine Coast

2022 – Rubie Orman-Ditchfield is currently completing her thesis: Understanding and Addressing Eco-anxiety among Adolescents in Southeast Queensland

2021 – David Heyne has completed his thesis: Elucidation of bioactive compounds in the red seaweed Asparagopsis taxiformis.

2020 – Charmaine Schou has completed her thesis: Anthropogenic noise effects on anuran mating behaviour.

Barung Landcare

Barung Land Care has worked with Sunshine Coast hinterland residents since 1989 to better manage and re-vegetate their properties. They have distributed more than one million trees in the region and operate a native plant nursery in North Maleny.

Coolum and North Shore Coast Care

Coolum and North Shore Coast Care are a community based volunteer group whose activities include running a native plants nursery, dune and bush revegetation, weed control and turtle monitoring.

Environmental issues may seem overwhelming but one person can make a difference. Supporting local action is empowering and effective.

The Environmental Legacy Foundation is a registered charity in Australia and is listed on the Register of Environmental Organisations.

Donations

Donations to the Environmental Legacy Foundation are tax deductible and help protect the natural heritage of the Sunshine Coast for future generations.

Bequests

Please consider pledging a gift in your will to the Environmental Legacy Foundation.

No matter how large or small your gift it will make an enormous difference – and also a legacy to be proud of.

If leaving a gift to the Environmental Legacy Foundation we suggest using the following wording (a guide only)

“I give the sum of $(amount) to Environmental Legacy Foundation Ltd ABN 81 452 451 350 to be used towards the Foundation’s Constitutional Objectives”.
